Another Purple vs. Purple Madness

L: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, R: Primer In-direct Natural Light

When I first got into indie makeup I made a purchase from Dawn Eyes, a lovely little shop with beautiful and affordable shadows.  Don’t be fooled by the website, these shadows are fantastic.  As a purple shadow gal, I love her purples!  A Redditor recently messaged me about a comment I made in a thread saying that I own both Purple Madness and Another Purple.  She was flip flopping between the two and I was able to swatch them to help her decide! Now, these swatches are here for anyone else that may be interested in the shadows.

T: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, B: Primer Direct Natural Light

All photo’s are taken with my natural daylight lamp due to the ugliness of winter outside.  They are swatched over Glitter Glue, bare skin, and NYX Primer.  I found that these shadows actually performed better over the normal primer and the Glitter Glue made them more muted.  This is not usually the case with other shadows but the results are still very pretty.

Another Purple

Direct Natural Light L: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, R: Primer

This is a pretty colour described on the website as “A greyish lilac when applied dry, bursts into a bright shiny lilac over primer with subtle sparks of blue”. The online swatch is pretty accurate, especially as this is an incredibly difficult shadow to photograph.

T: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, B: Primer In-direct Natural Light

The purple sheen leans pink with very subtle blue sparkle.  Over the Glitter Glue, the shadow is a softer grey purple-pink.

T: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, B: Primer In-direct Natural Light

T: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, B: Primer Direct Natural Light

Over primer, the colour is more vibrant and the purple comes out a bit more.  The sparkles are there but the sheen of the purple steals the show, ensuring that the shadow isn’t a complete glitter bomb

This is a beautiful colour and easily my favourite of the Dawn Eyes shadows that I own.  Depending on how you use it, it can be a muted everyday colour or a show stopping purple.

Purple Madness

Direct Natural Light L: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, R: Primer

This purple is described as a “pearlescent greyish lavender shimmering with fine pink, blue and violet sparks.”  The online swatch of this shadow is lightly more silver.

T: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, B: Primer Direct Natural Light

This shadow is a dusty purple and for those of you looking for a more silvery shade, this is one to pick up! The sparkles are subtle but really make this shade memorable.

T: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, B: Primer Direct Natural Light

Over the primer, this shadow is also more intense than it is over the Glitter Glue but less so than Another Purple. The shadow over Glitter Glue is more grey and over the primer it is more purple.

T: Gitter Glue, M: Bare, B: Primer In-direct Natural Light

Those sparkles though!  They add extra dimension and drama to the shadow. This is a pretty silver purple with a little extra oomph.

These shadows can be found in the Clearance Section for $2.75 and the shipping is really reasonable (orders over $10 are free in the US).  Dawn ships things super fast and these products have a tendency to sneak through customs like ninjas too! I don’t know how she does it, but I have never had to wait longer than a week for my shadows to get to me in Canada.

The shadows are pigmented and easy to use. If you’re waffling over which one to choose, for $2.75, I’d pick up both of them! Unless you’re on a low/no buy…then don’t.  These have been available since this summer when I purchased them so don’t let the clearance section fool you.  Dawn also will recreate a shadow she no longer sells if you ask, so if these shadows do happen to disappear there is always a way to get them.

Haus of Gloi Autumn 2014 Part 2!

For Part 2 of my Haus of Gloi review we have whipped soaps in S’mores, Pumpkin Queen, Pumpkin Eater, Spider Silk and Ghost Puffs!  To start we will look at the formula!

These whipped soaps are thick and light at the same time.  It feels like you are scooping up thick whipped cream to wash with.  It creates a lovely lather and leaves skin feeling clean without being squeaky. The scents don’t last on the skin for a very long time but they do leave light impressions after rinsing the lather off.

Pumpkin Queen

Scent description: Gentle hay pillows, pumpkin, ripe peaches dusted with clove and nutmeg, dried summer herbs and lastly, a lovely crown of amber.

As a whipped soap the nutmeg comes out the most with a sweetness from the pumpkin and the peaches coming through as well.  The hay and the herbs make a light impression at the end of the sniff and the amber just lightly surrounds the scent.  After use this leaves a light sweetness behind with a hint of nutmeg.

Pumpkin Eater

Scent description: Cream, glowing pumpkin, rich vanilla bean and the tiniest touch of nutmeg butter.

This is sweet, sweet pumpkin with warm cream and a hint of vanilla.  The nutmeg doesn’t really come out in the whipped soap for me.  After the rinse, this leaves a light, sweet pumpkin scent on the skin.

Scent description:  Graham cracker, dark chocolate, burnt marshmallow and a faint touch of woodsmoke.

This smells of sweetness and graham cracker! The dark chocolate and marshmallow mingle together to give the overall sweetness and the golden graham crackers are unmistakable. There is just a slight edge of smoke that deepens the scent.  After rinsing, my skin grabs onto the smoke and amps it up just like with the perfume, so I am left smelling like a forest fire.

Ghost Puffs

Scent description: Orbs of buttery popcorn and marshmallow goo, presented on a wooden stick.

So yeah, I actually have no idea what the Ghost Puffs soap should smell like because my whipped soap doesn’t smell like anything.  It smells like soap.  I emailed Haus of Gloi about this and they said I may have received an unscented soap by mistake and they offered to replace or refund me but as of yet they have not replied to my reply.  I received a replacement for my pumpkin butter but no refund (I think they decided to upgrade my pumpkin butter instead of refunding the soap).

This does discourage me from wanting to purchase from them again even though they have lovely products and scents.  I understand that they are still adapting to their enormous growth and it is okay to make mistakes but after you make a mistake, it is up to you to ensure that the mistake is fixed.  An indie’s business can be made or broken based on their customer service and I would hate to see Haus of Gloi lose their loyal customer base because they don’t feel heard.  This whole confusion with my order could have easily been fixed with a reply saying they were sending a replacement and asking if I wanted a refund or upgraded product.  Heck, if they had replied I would have let them know to hold onto it and that I would make a Yule order for them to include it with! My frustration with this issue was a factor in my reluctance to make an order for Yule.

Spider Silk

Scent description: Procured from a dream: delicate water mint, wispy grey musk, crystalline webs of amber, oakmoss, torchwood, copaiba resin, and a touch of withered violet leaf.

This smells of mint, musk and amber with a hint of violet leaf and resin.  I don’t get the torchwood but even without it this is a lovely light complex scent.  The mint nips at your nose while the musk and amber dance together.  After rinsing off, this leaves a light minty amber scent on the skin.

The butterbombs are fizzy bath bombs that fill your bath with scents and moisturizing goodness. I use about half a bomb per bath.  I find that after a bath when I use of of the butterbombs my skin feels super soft and smooth.

Lavender Amber: Two ambers, gold and dark blended with our lovely Bulgarian lavender.

This is a light lavender scent that partners well with the ambers.  The bath smells divine and the scent lingers lightly on the skin.

Marshmallow: (Could not find the official scent description) Sweet marshmallow.

This is a very, very light scent and just smells sweet.  It leaves an almost unnoticeable scent on the skin after the bath but is a good pick for someone that wants a very light scent.

These products were pretty nice.  I love the lather the whipped soaps make and the softness the butterbombs leave.  These are products I would pick up more of in the future.  I will be watching the Reddit threads to see if there are anymore continuing issues with the customer service and this will influence any future orders.  The products are great and hopefully the issues get sorted out because I’d hate to see this brand lose their customers.  Great products only do so much; you need to have the customer service to maintain the success.

All reviews and statements are my honest personal opinions. I have purchased all the products I have written about unless otherwise explicitly stated. I have not accepted payment for any of my reviews.

Haus of Gloi Autumn 2014 Part 1!

Wrapped up all pretty like!

This order is actually a combination of 3 orders! I made an order during part 1 and Haus of Gloi graciously said they would hold it until part 2.  I made 2 orders in the chaos of part 2 and then gave the go ahead to ship it all out.  They shipped it the next day! It took about a week and a half to get to me here in Canada which was a blessing as I really wanted to get my hands on these goodies! This was my first time trying any of the Haus of Gloi bath and body products although I have tried a couple of their perfumes.

Because I have such a large amount to review I will be splitting this review into 2 parts. Part 1 (this one) will include the 5 perfumes and the 3 pumpkin butters. Part 2 will include the 5 whipped soaps and 2 bath bombs! You ready? I’m ready…and really, really clean from the amount of bathing I’ve been doing to try everything out!

Left to Right: Persephone’s Descent, Pumpkin Eater, Pumpkin Queen, S’mores, Old Cider Haus (x2)

I blind bought a full size of Pumpkin Queen and ordered samples of Persephone’s Descent, Pumpkin Eater, S’mores, and Old Cider Haus.  My free sample was also Old Cider Haus so I have 2 of those I guess.  I would have preferred a sample of one of the scents I hadn’t ordered but I’m guessing they were so overwhelmingly busy that they didn’t notice the small things like that.

Pumpkin Queen

Store description: Gentle hay pillows, pumpkin, ripe peaches dusted with clove and nutmeg, dried summer herbs and lastly, a lovely crown of amber

In the bottle it smells sweet and earthy with a hint of spice from the clove and nutmeg.  Once applied the pumpkin blossoms into sweet loveliness, a ballet dancer in centre stage.  The clove and nutmeg join the show aiding the pumpkin with beautiful lifts and twirls.  After about 30 minutes the herbs and hay join the show, bringing back the earthiness from the initial sniff.  They dance with the other scents, mingling and twirling.  The scent is very balanced with the amber applauding now and then but not fully joining in.  This is an earthy, spicy pumpkin scent.

This lasts about 4 hours on me before moving closer to my skin.  Sillage is pretty good until that point.  Total, it lasted 6 hours.

Pumpkin Eater

Store description: Cream, glowing pumpkin, rich vanilla bean and the tiniest touch of nutmeg butter.

I wish I had grabbed this in a full size! Every-time I checked back after receiving my package it was sold out!  In the vial this a warm, slightly sweet scent.  Applied the cream envelopes the pumpkin in a hug full of sweetness and warmth.  Most cream and milk notes go sour on my skin but this scent is all love and hugs.  The vanilla jumps right in, just like that overly happy and touchy kid in school.  He joins the hug and amps up the sweetness without giving anyone a toothache.  The nutmeg is there watching, wanting to join the hug and feel the warm affection but too shy and scared of rejection.  She kind of hovers in the background, a backdrop for the other scents.  All in all this is a lightly sweet, creamy pumpkin scent.

This lasted 3 hours on my skin before moving closer to my skin to linger for another hour.  The silage wasn’t as strong as Pumpkin Queen but I caught wiffs of it here and there.

Persephone’s Descent

Store description: Pomegranate, pale musk, narcissus blossom and black amber.

Sweet, sweet, almost sickeningly sweet fruit and flower.  In the vial it smells like artificial candy and on my skin it doesn’t get much better.  To be honest, I am not a huge fan of fruity or floral scents but a few recent adventurous picks involving fruit and floral notes worked really well so I thought I would try this!

On me this is fake pomegranate.  It smells like I sprayed my pomegranate flavour spray (for water) into a vase of flowers. The musk and amber amp the sweetness up, making intolerable for me.  After 30 minutes the musk and amber back off a little but the pomegranate and narcissus continue their assault on my senses.  They brandish pitchforks and shovels, rushing forward over and over again! I couldn’t handle it.  I washed this off after an hour.  Sillage was great, unfortunately for me.

This just wasn’t for me.  If you like sweet florals and fruits then try it but if you are wary of those notes then take heed of my warning!

Store description:  Graham cracker, dark chocolate, burnt marshmallow and a faint touch of woodsmoke.

In the vial this smells of golden graham cracker, gooey toasted marshmallows and a hint of dark, bitter chocolate.  The smoke doesn’t come out very much in the vial but it more than makes up for it when applied.  Once applied the graham cracker, marshmallow and dark chocolate chill out for a couple minutes, oblivious to the darkness stalking them.  Suddenly, around about the 10-15 minute mark, a masked intruder bursts through the door and slays the sweet scents where they stand.  The smoke stands there as a lone note surveying the scene and checking out the place for the next 5 hours.  If you were to walk past the house you would think it were burning as the scent of smoke is strong and unwavering.  As I left for the morning and locked my own door I was caught for a second wondering what was burning before I realized it was me!

After about 5 hours the souls of the poor sweet scents finally depart, the graham leaves right away eager to move on.  The marshmallow and chocolate stick around for a bit, ghosts of the scents they once were and barley mellowing out the smoke.  The scent lasts for 6 hours but is full on smoke for the vast majority of that time.  It floats around for about 3 hours before moving closer to the skin (to my relief) and then sticking around a bit longer.

Old Cider Haus

Store Description:  Old oak, sweet drying hay fields, crushed apple pulp and vanilla husks.

Oh how I wish I could love apple! This scent is an unrequited love story between myself and the notes I should love.  I love apples but apparently don’t love apple perfume.  In the vial this is sweet apple with a hint of vanilla to round out the scent.

Applied, the apple comes forth full of sweetness and a slight tartness.  He sings to me, caressing me with his voice but his pleas for my love only make me turn away.  The vanilla joins the chorus hoping aid her friend in his quest for love but to no avail.  I love vanilla, I do but with apple they just do not please my nose! Oak and hay, previously looking on from the distance take pity on their friend and join in with the hope that they can convince me that apple is the one for me.  Their voices mix and mingle, hay and oak in the background and vanilla providing harmony but their voices are no match for the strong and sweet apple.  After about an hour hay and oak give up and move on, wishing apple luck.  Only apple and vanilla are left and apple has come to believe that he’d be better on his own.  He tries to drown out vanilla but this just makes things worse and my refusal just makes him more desperate.  This ends up being a very strong apple scent on me with a slight appearance of the other scents.

This lasted 6 hours total, 4 hours floating around and 2 hours closer to the skin.

Pumpkin Butter

Left to Right: Pumpkin Eater, Pumpkin Queen, and Ghost Puffs

I picked up the little mini containers of the different Pumpkin Butters.  Since I had never actually tried any of the scents or the butter for that matter, I didn’t want to commit to big tubs in case I hated them! So I have these three cute little containers sitting happily in my bathroom.  With the exception of Ghost Puffs, the scent descriptions are the same as for the perfumes above.

The formula is thick and creamy, heavy enough to retain its shape when you scoop it out but not so heavy that it doesn’t soak into the skin.  The lotions soak in right away, leaving skin feeling really soft and supple. They’re not greasy and feel really nice on the skin.

Pumpkin Queen

This is super spicy in a pumpkin butter! The pumpkin adds a lovely sweetness and the amber rounds the scent out but the clove and nutmeg are definitely the stars of the show.  This scent sticks around for hours! I put it on at 5:00pm before dinner and could still smell it when I woke up at 8:00am the next morning!  When I got into the car my Mr. commented on how he liked the scent so it has great throw too!  The formula is a great bonus too, leaving me super soft as well as yummy smelling!

Pumpkin Eater

This is all pumpkin in the lotion! The vanilla and cream warm the scent and pulls the sweetness back a bit but nutmeg doesn’t really come out much.  Much like Pumpkin Queen, this scent sticks around for a long time (about 8 hours opposed to the 15 for Queen) and the lotion leaves me feeling like I have a baby’s butt where ever I applied it.

Ghost Puffs

Here’s my Ghost Puffs adventure: I ordered the pumpkin butter and whipped soap but when I received them they didn’t actually smell like anything!  I emailed them and received a reply the next day offering to replace my products (the whipped soap also lacked scent) and I replied saying I’d like a replacement pumpkin butter but would prefer a refund on my soap since I have so much of it. I never received an answer and had written a little blurb for this post about how it was disappointing but whatevs.  Imagine my surprise to see a little square package on the 18th of November from them.  A month after receiving no reply to my email and no refund, it completely caught me off guard.  I’ll dress this a little more below but now onto the review.

In the container it smells like cardboard.  It really wasn’t the marshmallow-y goodness I was expecting.  This weird cardboard scent (maybe it is supposed to be the wooden stick?) stuck around for a bit after I applied it but it slowly morphed into a light popcorn with the sweetness of marshmallow.  If I didn’t know that it was supposed to be orbs of buttery popcorn and marshmallow goo, presented on a wooden stick it wouldn’t have been the first description I would have come up with.  The scent is heavily sweet with the light popcorn with the edge of wood and cardboard.  It isn’t unpleasant and I found that I really enjoyed it but I was expecting more marshmallow and less generic sweetness.  This lasted 12 hours though, so the staying power makes up for any misgivings I had about the scent.

Summary for Part 1

So in general my experience with Haus of Gloi products was positive.  I know a few people are having some issues with customer service or items missing in their order due to Matt and Britton needing to get used to the growth of their company.  I wasn’t missing anything in my order and besides the lack of smell with my Ghost Puffs products and the double Old Cider Haus it was all very nice.  The lack of response to my email reply does concern me though as offering to replace products is great and all but you kind of need to let your customers know if you are going to follow through.  I replied stating I would love the pumpkin butter to be replaced but would prefer a refund on the whipped soap (I have so much soap now…) but never received a reply or a refund.  The replacement pumpkin butter was upgraded to a full size from the sample size and I think the logic is that it makes up for whipped soap (instead of a refund).  At this point I just don’t really care anymore.  It is frustrating but I had to ask myself if it was really worth fussing over.

On that note I have to say that Haus of Gloi’s customer service has been causing issues and has caused some people to stop buying from them.  I am sure they are super nice people, they seemed really lovely in all my emails with them but their lack of response and many mix ups are damaging customer perception.  Hopefully they are able to get through these growing pains and move out of this awkward indie puberty.  I really like their products but want to be confident that I am getting what I am ordering and that if I don’t, that it will be handled appropriately.

On a happier product related note, i’m wishing I had picked up a full sized Pumpkin Eater!  The pumpkin butters were super nice and I’ll be grabbing some full sizes in the future. I love how my skin feels after using them and how the scents linger for so long.  I don’t even need perfume!

Soapy Sweet Treats

I recently won a Halloween Facebook contest hosted by Soapy Sweet Treats and my prize was their Whipped Sugar Scrub in Trick or Treat scent! I received this the other week and jumped in the bath to try it.

The packaging is so cute! The labels are waterproof and has fun colours for the different scents and products.  You will notice that my scrub is mislabelled as Shea Butter and I was a little confused before opening it to double check that it was a scrub.

Product description: This is not a foaming scrub or a cleanser. This product has a thick texture that will leave your skin feeling smooth and soft as if you have applied lotion. A very small amount goes a long way.

This scrub looks loaded with sugar! It is super soft and easy to scoop out.  It felt like thick icing loaded with sugar and it smelled awesome too!

Scent description: fruity Halloween candy with pumpkin, apple, blueberries, elderberries, orange, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla.

To me this smells like sweet candy.  I get the fruity candy, sugar and vanilla which meld together to create a sweet and slightly tangy scent.  The pumpkin, apple, blueberries, elder berries and orange aren’t really distinguishable, it’s just a general fruity scent (like a fruit juice).  The cinnamon doesn’t come out at all so the scent is just sweet with no bite.

I initially loved the smell of this and the way it felt when you scooped it out but the scent is very strong and lingers for a while (like 3+ hours) after rinsing it off.  When I used it I liked the way it felt (scrubbiness was nice) but noticed that it kind of melts when I rubbed it on my warm, wet skin.  It was like Wholly Hemp’s lotions melt into a puddle but it was sugar scrub.  The melted scrub also left my skin feeling waxy and it repelled water, leaving it beaded up on my skin.  I tried to rinse it off as usual but had to wash it off with soap, twice.  My skin still felt a little waxy but not nearly as bad as before.  After the double wash the scent was still there with the slight waxy feeling and lingered for about an hour or two.

Melty Scrub

After trying the rinse off the scrub. That shininess isn’t from the water.

I emailed the owner of the shop about the waxiness of the scrub and her reply was:

“This is normal, it’s kind of like using a sugar scrub and applying lotion in one step. What was left on your skin is whipped shea butter :)”

Okay, that makes a little more sense but it is not my personal cup of tea.  I really didn’t like how I felt so waxy! It is definitely a unique product and I understand what the product description means now.

GIF’s demonstrating the waxing coating:

After rinsing the scrub off.

No scrub used on this hand

After wiping off my hand with a dry towel (after the last water test)

My skin was left feeling really soft and smooth but I really didn’t like how it felt like it was coating me.  If you need an exfoliation and moisture treatment all in one and don’t mind feeling a little waxy for a while, this is something to try.

The scent is very strong and from reading other reviews her products are strongly scented.  If you are sensitive to scent or want to use a whole lot of product (slather your whole body in lotion or scrub) then this is something to consider.  The scent also didn’t really reflect the description.  It smelled really nice but I didn’t get all the notes it was said to have.

I will be giving some of her other products a try in the future because they look really nice but the scrub isn’t on my list.  It just wasn’t for me.

Bonus Afro Scrub Man.

Kheimistrii Bath and Body Products!

A couple weeks ago I saw a post on Reddit about a new company someone had tried, Kheimistrii.  I checked them out and the products were calling my name so resisting the 40% off sale was futile.  I threw my money at the lovely owner Kheim and after receiving my order I wish I had ordered more! International shipping is a little steep (think Cocoa Pink prices vs. Solstice Scents) but her products are super lovely! The Etsy shop can be found here!

I ordered on October 11th and my order shipped on the 26th.  There was a slight delay with TAT due to Kheim being overwhelmed by the love Reddit threw at her (she ran out of 2 oz jars) but that’s still only 2 weeks even with the delay.  I have become accustomed to the longer TAT’s that come with indie products so this wasn’t something I was concerned with.  I received my package on November 5th so that was par for the international shipping course.  It came well packaged; everything wrapped in tissue and padded with peanuts.

I had reached out to Kheim regarding her products to see if they were made using a base as I wanted to make a purchase for my sister who is super sensitive to soap.  These products are all created by Kheim from scratch and many products are vegan friendly (not all so make sure you look for that if that is a concern for you).  The products were all created with sensitive skin in mind.

Let’s move onto the haul shall we?  I ordered 2 full sized whipped soaps in the scents Pumpkinhead and Goofballs, as well as a sample in Phantasm.  I picked up the Brown Sugar Scrub in Vanilla Sugar, and the Honey Please! honey scrub.  For lotions I snagged the Shea Soufflé in Sweet Cream and the Kreme Body Moisturizer in Ginger Glace and Vetyver & Banyan Fig.  I also picked up a bar of French Kiss soap.  Kheim was super generous with the soap samples and I got 4 extra samples in Asian Plum, Kimberly Rose, Tibetan Black Tea, and Ginger Glace!

Onto the Reviews!

Brown Sugar Cleansing Scrub

Product description:  This scrub is rich and thick, with no leaking mess to clean up. It goes on creamy and rinses away clean, with the added benefit of moisturizing & softening cocoa butter. No heavy after-feel or greasy residue left behind on skin. Use a bath pouf or sponge for tons of creamy, LUSCIOUS lather.

The scent description for Vanilla Sugar is: Warm vanilla, spun sugar, aromatic santalum, milky coconut, infringed upon by spicy amber and musk.

Look at that sugar!

This is definitely loaded with sugar and is very thick.  You have to dig in a bit with your fingers to get it out but once applied it soaps up and feels lovely.  The only concern with this one is to make sure you get a good lather or else the sugar kind of sticks to the skin and won’t move around (you can’t scrub if it doesn’t rub).  It rinses off well but having a little bit of a softer soap would benefit the scrubbiness a little more.  I feel like a babbled with all of that so hopefully it doesn’t sound like gibberish!

This leaves skin feeling really soft and clean without feeling squeaky.  I find that many soaps leave my skin feeling like the moisture has been stripped away and this doesn’t do that at all.

Honey Please! Body Polish

Product description: A yummi-licious body polish with Atlantic & Dead Sea Salts to help balance skin hydration and detoxify while Mango Butter & Honey add moisture and retains it.
Fragrance Notes: Honey, almonds & oats.

P1010724The formula for this is interesting.  I am used to scrubs just being soap with sugar added to it and this is definitely not a soap scrub.  Besides the beautiful colour this polish is like scooping out honey and slathering it all over, but better! This is just slightly thicker than honey and loaded with scrubbiness.  It also smells awesome! This smells like sweet oatmeal cookies made with almonds and honey!

This product is what I think of when I think of a scrub! The salt is fine and feels like it is buffing away all the imperfections.  The mango butter and honey moisturize the skin and it rinses away to leave soft, polished skin without leaving a residue.  I only picked up a sample of this but will be stocking up next time I make an order!

Whip’d Soap

Shop Description: Whip’d Body Wash is a unique cleanser that is whipped like a souffle! Very rich and thick with loads of fluffy bubbles. Enriched with grape seed & jojoba oils to moisturize, nourish & hydrate for more supple skin. A little goes a long way.

P1010712The formula is super thick and even looks luxurious.  It is just slightly thicker that Haus of Gloi’s whipped soap and feels like you are scooping out almost frozen whipped cream.  This lathers beautifully with a pouf or without.  This leaves skin feeling moisturized while still feeling clean.  My sister commented on how well it keeps her skin hydrated without feeling heavy or leaving residue.

Goofballs Whip’d Soap

So this particular product was a major reason I made my order.  This scent description sounded pretty close to Haus of Gloi’s Ghost Puffs and I wanted to compare the two.  I am so glad I grabbed this due to some disappointment with Ghost Puffs (that review is coming)!

Scent description: Gobs of gooey marshmallow fluff & s’creamy salted caramel, drizzled over buttery popcorn spheres, displayed on a wooden crate. Ayumm!  Fragrance notes: marshmallow fluff, buttery popcorn, salted caramel, smoky wood

This smells like sweet and creamy marshmallow!  The popcorn is there but only faintly and the wood is barley noticeable but still stops the scent from being too sweet.  This smells like marshmallow fluff covering popcorn (or Rice Crispies) drizzled with caramel with a hint of wood to ground the scent.  It is heaven!  I am a marshmallow lover (it comes a close second to vanilla) and this scent is what my dreams are made of. The best part of this soap? The scent sticks around! The scent fills the shower when you are using it and even after you have rinsed, dried off and gotten dressed you smell of lovely shmellowey goodness!  The scent isn’t as strong as a perfume would be but it is stronger than what most soaps leave.  I love it and find myself smelling myself an hour later to pick up the faint smell of marshmallow.

Pumpkinhead Whip’d Soap

Scent Description: pumpkin puree, winter squash medley, creamy vanilla milk, spicy nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, cassia, maple rum, caramelized sugar.

For all those spice lovers out there, this is a lovely spicy scent!  The nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom and cassia are the true stars here!  The maple rum is like the bass music in a song, strong and always in the background but not overwhelming.  The maple adds some sweetness a touch of booziness.  The pumpkin and squash mingle with the scents, balancing them out much like a pumpkin pie loaded with flavour.  The creamy milk and sugar stop this scent from becoming too masculine and adds a sweetness and creaminess to the scent that keeps it from being overwhelming.  To me this smells like a spicy pumpkin pie drizzled with maple rum cream and sprinkled with sugar.

This scent leaves you smelling spicy after your shower and it sticks around for about 3 hours as a strong scent before fading a little and disappearing around the 5 hour mark.  It was great layered with my Cenobite perfume.  It is a soap but it leaves a strong scent that sticks around longer than some of my perfumes!

Phantasm Whip’d Soap

Scent description: Deep, dark, bold and intoxicating. Dark spices, citron fruit, soft florals, golden resins, blonde amber and Wichita blue juniper, compounded with the dark forest and the deepest corners of your imagination…

This is a floral scent masquerading behind citrus and spice.  The citrus hits you first with the spices following close behind.  The florals, amber and resins follow close behind the round out the scent.  I liked the scent but found that the citrus and spices faded away really fast leaving only the resins, amber, juniper and florals behind.  After using it the florals linger on the skin but in a pleasant way.  I am not a huge fan of floral scents but have to admit that it smells nice and not old ladyish.  This scent lingered on the skin for about 2 hours.

I grabbed the 2 oz sample of Phantasm.  For a sample it is pretty good size and it will last at least 7 washes for me.

Kreme Body Moisturizer

P1010715Product description: Kreme is rich & dreamy, both moisturizing and conditioning, with a superior skin feel. For exceptionally soft, supple, silken skin, dip into Kreme!

The formula for this is super light and because of this it absorbs incredibly fast.  Silken is a great description for this product as it leaves the skin feel moist and soft without feeling heavy.  Many lotions in the indie world are pretty heavy (Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter or Solstice Scents Ganache) and this was a refreshing change.  There is no heavy residue or tacky feeling, it feels like spreading lightly whipped creme all over yourself!

Ginger Glace Kreme Moisturizer

Scent description: Spicy ginger, enveloped by crunchy sugar crystals, sprinkled with amber and enveloped in the cool richness of vanilla cream.

Ginger can be quite strong and I was thankful that this ginger scent is softer and sweeter.  This smells like candied ginger topping vanilla whipped cream; a little bit nippy but overall sweet and yummy!  The amber is a soft halo around the scent and I found it to be really well balanced.  This is a soft, sweet ginger with only a hint of spiciness.  The scent really stuck around and I found that it outlasted some of my perfumes! The scent was lingering on my skin around around 8 hours total although it started to fade at the 5 hour mark.

Vetyver & Banyan Fig Kreme Moisturizer

Scent description: Fruity, earthy and insubstantial. Not too much of either. The conformance of soft florals and fruits are melded as one with the sensual notes of vetyer. Noticeable notes of black amber, kumquot, cyclamen, black currant, rosewood, teakwood, violet leaf, clingstone peach and osmanthus.

This is also a soft, well balanced scent.  The description: conformance of soft florals and fruits are melded as one with the sensual notes of vetoer, really fits this scent well.  There’s the sweetness from the peach, kumquat and black current that mingles with the floral from the cyclamen and osmanthus.  The rosewood, teakwood and violet leaf add an earthiness that grounds the scent.  This scent sticks around for only 3 hours on me but reapplying this lovely formula is not a chore!  I am not moisturized and nice smelling!

Shea Souffle

Product description: Shea Souffle has a light & fluffy texture and does not leave behind an oily film. This light body souffle absorbs quickly and has a silky after-feel.

The formula for the Shea Soufflé is thicker than the Kreme Moisturizer but is still light when applied. There is no film and it leaves you feeling soft and silky.  I kept touching my skin because it felt so nice.P1010720Scent description: a warm vanilla, with a sugary, lilting note of creamy milk.

The scent is light and creamy with a hint of sweetness.  It smells like vanilla whipped cream! My skin has a habit of making milk scents go sour but this one did pretty well.  This lasted for about an hour before starting to develop a sharp edge.  I love the formula so I wish there were other options for scent because although I love the way this smells for the first hour, I am not a gigantic fan of it for the next 3 hours.  If milk notes go sour on you but this product still interests you, grab a sample size to try first.

French Kiss Soap

Product description: luxury soap without the frills.  Try our premium ‘no frills’ bars! All the premium ingredients found in our artisan bars, without all the extra.

This soap is nice and simple but packed with scent, and loaded with moisturizing oils and butters.  I love the circular shape of the soap bar as I found it easier to hold while using it than my rectangular bars.  The lather is pretty nice, not as thick as the whipped soaps but it still feels nice on the skin.

Scent description: A troika of vanillas, interrupted by star jasmine, freesia, heliotrope & ylang-ylang, intruded upon by rosewood & musk, cloaked by shaved almonds and dusted with sugar. Soft, not too sweet, not at all dessert-like. Reminiscent of almond-vanilla-cream, but for grown-ups.

This is a sweet scent balanced out by floral notes.  The almond, vanilla and sugar round out the flowers to stop it smelling from smelling grandmaish while the flowers stop it from being too foody.  This is a warm floral scent grounded by the musk and rosewood.  It is a sweet, feminine scent.

Soap Samples!

Like the French Kiss soap, these all had a decent lather and left my skin feeling clean without feeling like it was stripped of moisture.  These have a small ingredient list but are still packed with oils to leave your skin packed with moisture.

Asian Plum

Scent description: an exotic floral fragrance comprised of notes of orchid, jasmine, plum, vanilla and musk.

This is a very floral scent and I don’t get any of the plum or vanilla.  It smells of jasmine, orchid and musk.  It is a very feminine scent that lingers even after you’ve washed it off.  This scent stuck around (close to my skin) for 2 hours.

Ginger Glace

Scent description: Spicy ginger, enveloped by crunchy sugar crystals, sprinkled with amber and enveloped in the cool richness of vanilla cream.

This soap has more amber than vanilla cream than the Kreme Moisturizer.  This smells of sweet ginger (not really spicy) and amber and lasted for an hour after showering.

Tibetan Black Tea

Scent description: strong, dark tea without any added notes.

This smells like…wait for it…black tea! This is a great black tea scent for those that don’t want anything extra.  It has a slight soapy edge but smells great for those of us who like tea notes.  This scent didn’t last too long after rinsing it off but I could smell it very faintly on my skin an hour after my shower.

Kimberly Rose

Scent description: Fresh, hand-picked Bulgarian roses, intermingled with just-cut Dune & Musk roses. set atop santalum, rained on by vanilla accord, sprinkled with cocoa bean, resinous amber, star anise & musk, and grounded with earthy green moss.

I smell like flowers! There is a slight warmth from the vanilla and the cocoa, a sweetness from the amber but this is a very earthy, rosy scent.  Many rose scents can easily turn into old lady but this is a young rose scent.  Feminine and soft, this is a lovely scent that stuck around for 3 hours after my shower.

My sister also received her order (it was a surprise) and loves it all so far.  As of yet there have been no negative reactions for either of us (which is saying something)! We agreed that our favourite product was Goofballs and I have to say that Honey Please! was a close second.

The main thing that stuck out for me was how strong the scents were! Usually my soaps scents fade away and my lotions only give me a faint scent (good for layering but not strong enough on their own).  These products had scents that stuck around for a while! I like that there are so many options for scents and that the descriptions are pretty true for real life application.

Kheimistrii quickly climbed the ranks of my favourite shops and her great customer service and prompt answers beat out a couple of fan favourites.  The only downside is the international shipping but the products were well worth it.  I loved her products and how constantly wonderful they were.  The lotions are fast absorbing without leaving a heavy residue, the soaps lathered well and left a great scent and the scrubs were scrubby!  It is reassuring to know that everything is handmade and loaded with quality ingredients.  I really encourage everyone to give this shop a chance!  For a new shop (she opened in June and only has 85 sales) she is on the right track and has great products! You can really tell that she put thought and effort into her products before opening her shop.

Her Etsy shop can be found here! Now go!

All reviews and statements are my honest personal opinions. I have purchased all the products I have written about unless otherwise explicitly stated. I have not accepted payment for any of my reviews.

Sixteen92 Shower Gel, Lotion and Perfume!

When I heard that Sixteen92 had a toasted marshmallow scent, I jumped right on the order train!  I had briefly looked at their scents before but only Cloven really jumped out at me so I hadn’t made an order.  My lipstick obsession has slowly made way for a bath product obsession and my fascination with perfume hasn’t gone away either!  My purchase was made September 28 and I received a shipping notification on October 8th.  It made it’s way up into Canada and arrived on the 15th of October. It came well packaged in a bubble mailer with extra bubble wrap for padding and snazzy little cardboard buffer cases for the perfume!  There were also some cute little Halloween toys in the mix!

The goods!

I ordered Shower Gel and Hand & Body Lotion, both in Toasted Marshmallow Scent, and a 5ml of Cloven.  She generously included 3 extras! My extras were Black Sugar, Raven, and a winter preview of Mexican Hot Chocolate! Claire was amazing when I contacted her and she had great customer services.  More on that in the body lotion review!

The Samples!

Since the samples were unexpected and super generous (3 for an order of 3 things!) I’ll review them first.

Black Sugar

Shop description: A dark counterpart to Aquolina’s Pink Sugar. Spun brown sugar, red berries, vanilla and tonka bean absolute dance with a sprinkle of dirt, a swirl of cauldron smoke, and a drop of bittersweet cocao absolute.

In the vial it smells sweet and creamy; definitely getting the sugar, vanilla and tonka bean.  The dirt, berries, smoke and cocao are absent but maybe they’ll come out after it’s been applied? On the skin the berry comes out a little bit, adding an indistinct fruity scent that melds nicely with the sugar, vanilla and tonk a bean.  The vanilla backed off a bit and the tonka bean comes to the front a little more.  The cocao comes into the mix, dancing around with the berries and adding a light powder-iness to the scent.  This isn’t the baby powder scent that lots of perfumes turn into, it’s the scent you get when you open a container of cocoa when making puffed wheat squares; light and slightly chocolate with a bitter edge.  This balances the sweetness a little bit, stopping it from becoming sickly sweet.

The dirt comes out a little bit after about an hour but it isn’t a strong dirt scent.  This is like a sweet child smelling of vanilla, sugar and tonka bean went out and made you a mud pie.  After plunking their creation in front of you they smell of sweetness and the earth clinging to their hands.  This scent grounds the scent without being dirty; I would actually describe this as earth and not dirt.  It isn’t the distinct dirty scent I think of when I hear of a dirt note being included, it is a light warm scent.

The smoke never entered the picture for me but I really liked this scent anyways.  This is not one I would have thought to pick up but boy am I glad I got to try it! I love this and will be picking up a full size.  This lasted a whopping 8 hours on me and was still there faintly at about 10 hours (not enough to notice unless you were looking for it).  The silage was good for the first 2 hours and then moved closer to the skin.

Shop description: Spiced apple, tea leaves, tobacco, guaiac wood

In the vial this smells sweet although not distinctly apple with a slight nip from the tea leaves but the tobacco and wood are absent.  Once applied it almost goes floral although there are no floral notes in this perfume.  This lasts for about 30 minutes before the apple comes through with a little bit of the spice.  The perfume becomes sweet, slightly apple-y, with some warm spices around the edge.  The tea leaves balance the sweetness so that it doesn’t become overwhelming.  The tobacco sneaks in there around the 1 hour mark adding its distinct scent to the mix.

After about 1.5 hours the wood drops into the mix and takes out the other scents.  Bodies are strewn across the floor as guaiac wood stands in the middle surveying the scene.  The apple slowly crawls into the upright position, standing behind the wood but too scared to take it out and choosing instead to just hover around the edges.

This scent lasts about 5 hours but stays very close to the skin.  I had very limited silage with this one and had to put my nose right to my pulse point to pick it up.  This is a halloween scent so if you are interested you might want to pick it up before it sells out for the season!

Winter Preview

Description: Hot chocolate bar, Mexican hot chocolate.

In the vial it doesn’t smell like anything special; it’s just a typical chocolate note.  Once applied though, oh yum! Once I put this on I realized just how lovely this chocolate note is; it is incredibly creamy without going sour or being too sweet.  It is mellow and smells exactly like opening a milk chocolate bar.  After about an hour there is a hint of spice at the edge of the scent but nothing too strong.  I like how subtle the spice is as my skin seems to amp spice up and in this perfume they don’t overwhelm the chocolate.  This is a perfect, light chocolate scent.  Sometimes simple is better and for this perfume, it works wonderfully!

Sillage is awesome on this one.  I sat down in the living room and my roommate commented that this one was a good one from across the room.  She has started to make a list of everything she likes that I have tried! I also personally noticed the silage on this one (was snuggling with the Mr. and said he smelt nice then realized it was me!).  This floated around me for a good 3-4 hours before moving closer to the skin.  All in all this lasted for about 6-8 hours and is on my list to buy in a full size!

Website Description: A sweet trio of vanilla, fossilized amber resin and balsam prowl beneath a fiery mix of cardamom, cinnamon* and clove, finished with a dash of blue chamomile, damascus rose and neroli.

In the vial this is spicy and warm with just a hint of vanilla.  Once applied the vanilla shoves those spices aside so that it can get to the front of the line; my skin amps up vanilla so even as a base note it becomes fairly strong.  The spices don’t like this so much, especially cinnamon and clove who try to push vanilla back for the next 30 minutes.  Cardamom is there but he mostly just watches, waiting for his chance to jump in front of all three of them.  While the spices and vanilla scuffle at the front, the amber and balsam try to sneak around the other side, making it past the chamomile, rose and neroli but not quite past the cardamom whose sharp eyes catch them as they reach him.  They hover together, watching the scuffle that is continuing in front of them.  The chamomile, role and neroli don’t really like confrontation and prefer to stay away from trouble.  Everyonce in a while one of them steps up as if to get the attention of a teacher but they quickly shy away, almost before anyone notices them.

After about an hour, vanilla, cinnamon and clove are tuckered out and cardamom takes the opportunity to step forward.  The amber and balsam lack the confidence to follow but they stick close to the front, mingling with vanilla, cinnamon and clove.  Cardamon doesn’t overpower the other scents and the perfume works well together.  It is sweet and light yet warm and spicy.  My nose doesn’t pick up much of the neroli, rose or chamomile but everyonce in a while the scents try to come through.

This was a pretty masculine spicy scent with just enough sweetness to balance it out.  This will be slathered on the Mr. and he will then be enjoyed throughout the day (by smelling nice!).  This scent had okay silage floating around for about the first 2 hours before moving closer to my skin.  It lasted 4 hours before my skin gobbled it up!

Toasted Marshmallow Shower Gel

Super cute little cauldron bangle on the shower gel!

The scent in the bottle is divine and I couldn’t wait to shower in it.  This smells like sweet gooey marshmallows that have been lightly toasted over a fire.  To me, this smells like a toasted marshmallow tastes!

The formula is very much like Aveeno’s body wash; a light gel without being gelatinous.  In the shower this lathered beautifully (I used a shower pouf) and felt lovely on my skin.  The scent dissipated a bit once it was being used but was still there, just faint.  Once rinsed off, this left a light clean and slightly sweet (like a marshmallow) scent and my skin didn’t feel tight or dry.  This definitely replaces any of the commercial shower gels in my stash!

Toasted Marshmallow Hand and Body Lotion

P1010615 P1010617I emailed Claire about the lotion because when I opened it the seal was broken and there were little blue bits in the lotion and around the seal.  She responded immediately stating that it looked like the seal hadn’t taken and that the little blue bits were glue (it turns blue when activated) but that it was safe to use.  She offered to send me a replacement but as I am international I would feel bad having her pay the shipping for one item, especially when I plan on making an order in the near future! She assured me that it wouldn’t be a problem but said to let me know when I make my next order.

This lotion is light and goes on very smoothly.  It absorbed very fast and leaves skin feeling soft and supple without being greasy.  The scent is just like the shower gel, the smell of a toasted marshmallow.  When I applied it I noticed a sharp lotion-y scent underneath but it may have just been me as neither my roommate or boyfriend noticed it.  Again, my roommate piped up from the other side of the living room to comment on how yummy I smelt; she really has become my thermometer of silage and yummy scents.

I really liked everything I received and was pleasantly surprised that Black Sugar was so yummy.  I didn’t dislike anything and have a couple things on my to buy list!  Claire was great and replied quickly to my message leaving me feel happy with the resolution.  This is a shop to try and I hope to see it become popular.  If you want to try some of her lovely creations, you can find her shop here. Now go try stuff and decide for yourself!

My Beauty Addiction

My Beauty Addiction Samples

If my recent lipstick haul wasn’t enough, this sample haul from My Beauty Addiction may convince you of my new addiction to lipstick.  I bought 3 of the sample packs (3 for $4) during the recent back to school sale they had and got the colours Flaunt, Exotic Orchid, Cranberry, Fire Island, Bronze berry, Coral Crush, Mauvalicious, Sinful, and Red Hot.  Flaunt is a HD Lip Paint and the rest are the Color Rich Lipstick formula.  I also got a lip scrub in Frosty Mint!

For my international friends, shipping was a bit steep at $9 for this order.  I justified it with the coupon code (20% off) but I would not make a purchase without a coupon simply because of the shipping.

Samples come in clamshells and include a generous amount of the lipstick so you can get a couple wears in before you decide if you want a full size.  I used a brush to apply them but you could easily use your finger for fast and easy application.

Formula Descriptions:

The Color Rich Lipstick formula has Vitamin E and Shea Butter for a “nourishing & healing lipstick that delivers maximum colour”. This is supposed to deliver intense opaque colour and is not a sheer color, or a lip tint.

HD Lip Paints are described as very vivid and intense lipsticks that use a dye base rather than a mica base. These “intense, vivid colors that are opaque and offer great coverage, matte to semi matte finish and long wear”.

Bronze Berry

P1010035 P1010038

Bronze Berry does not have a very descriptive online description: “a cross between our Frosted Bronze and Mauvalicious making for an extrememly beautiful & unique shade!” Okay, so what does that mean? Well Frosted Bronze is described as “a warm bronzey shade that is super frosty” and Mauvalicious is “a beautiful frosted mauvy-pink with a pink/purple undertone.”  The online swatch is slightly more pink than I found it to be.

This colour is a very pretty mauve/pink bronze.  It is slightly metallic without looking like you have metal lips and applied evenly and easily.  It did not require more than one coat for the nice opaque colour in the picture!

During wear, there was minimal feathering and the formula is pretty moisturizing.  My lips did not feel dry but the lipstick needed to be re-applied after about 1-2 hours.

P1010039 P1010040

This is described as a “rich red with a pink undertone”.  This wasn’t the easiest to apply and because of this the colour isn’t as opaque as it could be.  To achieve the colour of the online swatch you would need to apply more, making it quite thick on your lips and affecting your wear time.

I found that the colour in real life was a reddish pink with a bit of shimmer.  This lasted 2 hours before needing re-application but I found it was quite drying after a while.

Exotic Orchid

P1010041 P1010044

The online swatch makes this colour seem a little more muted, but don’t be mistaken! This is a very bright purple!  I wish I could wear this colour more often but it is perfect for someone that likes to have bright, statement lips!  This is described as a “light medium purple with a hint of pink in undertone, opaque and has a semi-matte finish.”

I used 2 coats to achieve full opacity and it has a lovely semi-matte finish.  The formula was smooth and easy to apply but this colour required touchups quite often as it was obvious when it started to wear off and my natural lip colour came through.

Coral Crush

P1010046 P1010047

This is described as a “a soft peachy-pink shade with a hint of magenta underglow.”  The online swatch for this colour is a lot more pink than I found this to be.  I think this is more of a neutral pink than it is portrayed as on the website.  The magenta is just a whisper of an underglow, making this more pink than brown.

This is a nice neutral colour for when you want to do something a bit brighter on your eyes.  It lasted 3 hours before needing reapplication and was pretty moisturizing.

P1010048 P1010050

This is supposed to be a “bright, light coral/orange”.  Flaunt is the only HD Lip Paint that I got a sample of and it isn’t my favourite formula.  I found it was more difficult to apply and get even coverage, and it settles into my lines.  It was a bit patchy and streaky, and didn’t apply evenly.  The formula made my lips feel really dry too.

The online swatch isn’t quite as orange as this colour appeared in real life, as I found it to be a light coral that leaned orange but that could still be worn day to day.  This required reapplication at the 1 hour mark as I found I kept licking my lips since they felt dry.  Even with a lip balm, this colour sucked the moisture away!

P1010051 P1010052

This is described as a “beautiful frosted mauvy-pink with a pink/purple undertone”. I love this colour and the description and online swatch are almost dead on for this colour!  This has a pretty frosted appliance that stops the colour from being too bright, muting it and bringing it down to earth.

This was pretty moisturizing and I didn’t feel like my lips were dying.  It settled a bit in my lines but not too horribly.  Reapplication was required after about 2 hours.  I like this colour and think it is great for a darker look while still being work/school appropriate.

Fire Island

P1010053 P1010056

This lipstick was a pain in the butt to apply; you can tell by the swatch that it fought me!  This applied splotchy and streaky; I had to work really hard to get even coverage.  It is a shame since it is such a pretty deep red.

This is described online as a “deep spiced red with an orange undertone” and the description is very accurate.  The online swatch is more of a true red than the lipstick is in real life but matches the lipstick in the clamshell before application.  Applied I found it leans more orange (like the description says) and has a slight metallic edge.

This required reapplication after about an hour and it did not wear evenly.  It was okay for moisture, not horribly drying but not pumping moisture into my lips either.

Red Hot

P1010057 P1010058

The description of this one is that it is a “deep hot red with a hint of warmth.”  It might be a difference in lighting for the difference between the lipstick in real life and in the online swatch, but they aren’t even close.  The swatch is much more pink where I found the lipstick to be very orange in real life.

P1010059 P1010060

This is supposed to be a “rich wine/red shade” but I find it to be more of a deep brown purple shade. This colour is a beautiful deep colour that can add drama to any look even though the colour doesn’t match the online swatch at all.  The online swatch is much lighter and pinker than the lipstick in real life.

This will be a great colour for the winter months! It needed reapplication after 2 hours but was good on the moisture front.  It feathered a bit but nothing a good lip liner can’t handle.

Lip Scrub

Don’t mind my finger prints!

The lip scrub doesn’t really look anything like the picture on the website but the appearance isn’t very important to me.  I’m much more concerned with if it actually works!

This lip scrub contains shea butter, jojoba oil, cane sugar, jojoba beads, and flavour oil. You apply it to your lips with your finger, smooth your lips together and massage it in, wipe it off when the sugar dissolves, and finish off with lip balm to lock in the moisture. This applies really easily and smells awesome! It’s like a vanilla mint and tastes like one of those soft pillow mints!  My lips are left soft but not sticky after using the scrub.  This is a 10/10 for me and I want more!

I found that some of the lipsticks were awesome, and others not so much.  Most of them were the same formula so the application issues and varying moisturizing qualities can’t be attributed to the formula.  Maybe I got a couple fluke samples? It is possible that a couple had dried out a little in the clamshells.

Overall it was a pretty good experience, more good than bad.  I will be getting more of the lips scrub but think I will pass on full sized lipsticks; I have so many already (61) that I don’t feel the absolute need to buy any of these in full size. Bronze Berry, Coral Crush, and Mauvalicious were my favourites out of my order, not including the lip scrub which was a big winner.

All in all, they’re worth a try if you’ve got a coupon code.  The samples were generous and you can get a couple uses out of them, especially if you use a brush to apply.
