Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet

Standard

That’s right, I managed to get a subscription to Notoriously Morbid’s Vanishing Cabinet! I was pretty excited!  She will be adding a couple more for those that wish to subscribe this next month so more people will have a chance to pick on up.  Her site can be found here and the Vanishing Cabinet info is here.  I know this is my second post in 2 days but I figured you’d like to see the August Vanishing Cabinet in August…right?

Such pretty wrapping!

This months Vanishing Cabinet not only featured a tinted balm (!!!) but also featured another of my favourite brands, Innocent+Twisted!

P1010075

All the pretties!

To the swatching!

I was super stoked when I found out about the tinted balm, Glass Apples, that was going to be included in the August VC; it was actually the little push I needed to subscribe to this subscription.  I love the formula of the Coffin Kissers and I really wanted to try out the tinted balm.  Tinted balms are my favourite thing to pop in my purse.  It’s a lip balm and a lip colour, I mean how can you go wrong?! Moisturizing your kissers while also making them look pretty and kissable!  This balm is being added to the permanent collection so if you missed out don’t you worry! You can scoop it up to add to your own collection pretty soon and trust me, you’ll want to grab at least one!

My bare kisser for your reference

The eyeshadows for this month are Seek Not Revenge, Stories by the Fire, Time is Fluid Here, and Moments that Illuminate.  The Innocent+Twisted shadow is Graceful Torment and the extra samples are Wadsworth and Fierce Poison.

P1010076

Are you ready for these?

P1010077

I+T always delivers such pretty shadows

P1010078

Who would have thought these colours would work so well together!

P1010083

Indirect Sunlight. From Top to Bottom: Moments that Illuminate, Time is Fluid Here, Stories by the Fire, and Seek Not Revenge.

P1010099

Direct Sunlight. From Top to Bottom: Moments that Illuminate, Time is Fluid Here, Stories by the Fire, and Seek Not Revenge.

Seek Not Revenge is a beautiful plum with red sparks that photographs a bit blue.  It is a really pretty colour with a pop from the red shimmer.

P1010079

Look at those sparkles!

P1010096

Indirect Sunlight. Left to Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin, Shadow Insurance

P1010108

Direct Sunlight

Bare skin really doesn’t do this shadow justice! The Shadow Insurance shows off the plum colour with just a hint of the sparkle and the Glitter Glue grabs onto those sparkles to put them right in the spotlight.  The red sparkles really balance out the blue in this plum shadow.

Stories by the Fire fits it’s name perfectly.  It is a burnt orange with gold and red sparkles that is supposed to be reminiscent of the embers of a dying fire.

P1010080

Doesn’t it remind you of telling stories around a fire? Now we just need some marshmallows!

P1010093

Indirect Sunlight. Left to Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin, Shadow Insurance

P1010106

Direct sunlight

The gold really pops with the Glitter Glue while the red is a little more subtle, making it more of a copper colour.  The Shadow Insurance brings out the base (such a pretty burnt orange) and the red sparkles don’t have to compete as much with the gold.

Time is Fluid Here is a deep charcoal grey with a slight copper shift (which was pretty impossible to photograph) and multicoloured sparkles.

P1010081

Almost black with sparkles, the perfect liner or smokey eye look!

P1010090

Indirect Sunlight. Left to Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin, Shadow Insurance

The copper shift is very difficult to capture with the camera and is pretty subtle in real life as well.  The sparkles give the shadow a bit of dimension so it is not just simply a deep grey.  This will make an awesome liner!

P1010091

Indirect Sunlight. Left to Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin, Shadow Insurance Blurry to capture sparkles

P1010104

Direct Sunlight

You can almost see the copper shift in the sunlight but the real stars are the multicoloured sparkles.

Moments that Illuminate is the iciest of blues with a pink shift, and gold shimmer and sparkle.

P1010082

I need a sweater just looking at this shadow!

P1010085

Indirect Sunlight. Left to Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin, Shadow Insurance

With the Glitter Glue, the gold really pops out making this a stunning shade.  This shadow really needs a glitter primer like Glitter Glue or Pixie Epoxy; Shadow Insurance just doesn’t cut it for this one.  The pink in this shadow adds that little extra and I know I will get lots of use from this shadow!

P1010088

Indirect Sunlight. Left to Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin. Blurry to show sparkles

In the sunlight the sparkles dance, they are mesmerizing!

Blurry to show off the sparkles…and look at them. Soooooo Pretttttty

The ‘Others’.

P1010131

Top – Bottom: Fierce Poison, Wadsworth and Graceful Torment.

Fierce Poison is a dark army green with a slight red duochrome. This colour is pretty with a primer and without, although for the red duochrome to show up you do need a glitter primer.

P1010121

In the sun, the red pops up and dazzles you!

P1010132

Direct Sunlight. Left – Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin, Shadow Insurance

Wadsworth is a special sample, it’s the sneak peak for next months Vanishing Cabinet! This is another burnt orange but this has a strong green duochrome.

P1010124

Indirect sunlight. Left – Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin, Shadow Insurance

P1010126

Look at that duochrome!

P1010134

Direct Sunlight. Left – Right: Glitter Glue, Bare Skin, Shadow Insurance

Graceful Torment is almost 2 different colours deepening on whether you use a glitter glue or regular primer.  This is a reddened pink with a violet shift.  On the Shadow Insurance you can see the reddened pink but with the Glitter Glue, this shadow transforms into a beautiful red-violet.

Final Thoughts

The Vanish Cabinet has some really pretty and unique colours.  The tinted balm was easily my favourite! For $17 USD for an international subscription ($12.90 for domestic) this subscription is well worth it! Now, what do you think the clue Wadsworth represents?  Guess we’ll have to find out!
